Unripe plantain pepper soup also aid in weight loss
If you want to jump-start your appetite or jolt your taste buds, Unripe Plantain Pepper soup is the way to go, particularly in this cold rainy season.
For this recipe, let’s stick to catfish, fresh or dried, doesn’t matter. Other must-haves for your unripe plantain pepper soup are;
- Unripe plantain
- Seasoning cube
- Scent leave
Peel the unripe plantain and dice it to your preferred shape. Wash it and put it in a pot. Wash the dry fish and put it in the pot at the same time with the plantain. Add enough water to cover the plantain properly and let it cook for 10 minutes.
When 10 minutes is up, put in the catfish, fresh or dried red pepper, sliced onions, seasoning cube, and salt. Allow the broth to boil for seven minutes.
While the pepper soup is cooking, wash then slice the scent leaves which go into the pot when the seven minutes are up.
Let that cook for a minute or two then taste for salt and pepper. If the pepper is hot enough and the salt is just right, your Unripe Plantain Peppersoup is ready to eat.
A TIP FOR EATING PEPPER SOUP
If you are not already a professional at it, is not to take water till the end. Or else, you’ll end up drinking over a litre by the time you are done with the meal. The key is to suck in some air slowly with your lips slightly parted to cool down the burning sensation. Oh! Don’t worry, you won’t faint, it’s just pepper!
