The initiative which was tagged Virtual Launching and Read Aloud with the Governor, was designed by the Office of Education Quality Assurance to create and stimulate the interest of school children in reading will be live for one hour today by 12noon till 1pm.
It was also gathered that the State owned television station, Lagos Television (Ltv) will air the repeat of the programme by 7pm.
There was a prior disclosure of the initiative by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, on early this week at a media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, where she explained that the initiative was introduced to encourage all children, within the primary school age bracket in the state to imbibe the culture of reading, as well as increase their knowledge and improve comprehension.
“It is necessary to adopt new strategies of preparing for the new world of learning, since the COVID-19 pandemic has put a stop to classroom teaching. The implication of this new development is that learning in schools will never be the same again,” Seriki-Ayeni said, while explaining the significance of the Read Aloud Lagos initiative.
