BREAKING! FG suspends Nigeria’s Executive Air Services indefinitely for flying Naira Marley to Abuja

Executive Air Services to be fined heavily by authorities

Nigeria’s private jet services company, Executive Air Services has been placed on an indefinite suspension for violating the Nigerian aeronautical authorities’ approvals and COVID-19 guidelines by flying Nigerian rapper Naira Marley to Abuja for a concert.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika announced this on Monday afternoon during the briefing on COVID-19 update by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

“The operations are a clear violation of our approval to which we take very seriously. And it seems that this is becoming a norm, perhaps this is the second time, so Executive Air Services are hereby suspended indefinitely,” Sirika said.

“We will also fine them maximally according to the law. The captain of the flight will also be sanctioned for giving wrong information to the control tower, and appropriately in accordance with our law,” he added.

The minister who said such violations pose a significant threat to the fight again the COVID-19 will hence be met with “stricter approval requirements and whoever dared us will meet the consequences”.

Executive Air Services was said to have violated its approvals after it went ahead to fly other passengers including Naira Marley to Abuja from Lagos when it only secured approval to operate a return flight from Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos to Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja on the 14 of June 2020 to drop off Honourable Justice Adefobe Okoji in Abuja for an official assignment.
