…As NURTW demands transportation subsidy
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has said that with the lifting of the ban on interstate travels, transportation fare for interstate trips might increase.
The Acting General Secretary of the Union, Kabiru Yau urged the government to help them reduce the cost of operation so that the fare might not be too expensive for commuters.

He said that one of the guidelines for the coronavirus pandemic is that motorists were to reduce the number of passengers they carry thereby reducing their income.
He also thanked the government for lifting the ban on travels, adding that the move will help motorists to resume work and feed themselves and their families.
He went on to say that the government should help by reducing the cost of operations for motorists as the income they will gain from the reduced number of passengers will not be enough to even fuel the car for the journey.
The union also expressed their cooperation in maintaining COVID-19 guidelines. They said that they will ensure passengers wear their nose mask and sanitise their hands.
