…Okowa, wife in isolation, receiving necessary treatment

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The governor disclosed this on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, saying he and his wife are well and remain in isolation.

This information comes on the basis of tests conducted on the family of the governor after having observed self-isolation for a few days.

The governor and his family have been isolation since Friday following one of their daughters tested positive for the virus.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, the governor and his wife are stable and have started necessary treatment, and further isolation.

The governor appreciated Deltans for their prayers for his family and called for continued supplications for all patients undergoing treatment for the pandemic.

He assured that his administration would not retreat in its efforts at fighting the virus in the state, and urged the public to support the government in that regard by complying with prescribed protocols by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Okowa revealed that “COVID-19 is real. The rate is increasing in our state and the virus is taking the lives of some of our people.

“I, therefore, again call on every Deltan to observe the protocols on the virus while in public, to curb further spread of the virus, especially in the communities.”
