…Dino Melaye lost to Smart Adeyemi at the tribunal
The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Senator Smart Adeyemi representing Kogi West Senatorial District.
In a verdict given by a three-member panel led by Justice Sambo on Wednesday, the tribunal dismissed the petition submitted by Senator Dino Melaye of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), affirming a unanimous ruling that the petitioners failed to prove the case.
Reacting to the judgment shortly by posting a video on his Twitter handle: @dino_melaye, Senator Dino Melaye vowed to, “get justice at the Court of Appeal.”

“The fellow compatriots (of) the Kogi West Senatorial District. The verdict has been given at the tribunal of the Kogi West Senatorial District in favour of Senator Smart Adeyemi. We actually did not expect judgment at this level, but we know by the grace of God we will get justice at the Court of Appeal,” Melaye said in the tweet.
He, however urged his supporters to be peaceful, strong and be unwavering in the struggle to get the mandate. “I encourage my teeming supporters to be strong, because the battle (is) the battle of no retreat no surrender. This temporary victory is very temporal and evaporative. We are getting there and we will get there.

“I encourage all my supporters to be peaceful, to be happy. Nothing lost. And by the grace of God, I remain Dino Melaye. And, I assure every one of you that we shall laugh at last. Thank you very much. Aluta continua, Victoria ascerta.”
Recall that Senator Dino Melaye is challenging the election declared by INEC which announced Senator Smart Adeyemi as the winner of the election.
