…Govt enjoins citizens to cherish democracy
The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 12, as a public holiday to celebrate Democracy Day for the year 2020.
Minster of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made the announcement as he admonished Nigerians to continually value the selfless struggles made to attain democracy.
In the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary to the Minister of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, the Minister extolled Nigerians for the entrenchment of democratic rule in the country.

The former governor of Osun State also in addition pointed that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will ensure the realisation of the democratic principles which these patriots fought for, even at the cost of their lives.
He also appealed to the citizens to stay safe by observing social distancing, personal hygiene, as well as other regulations issued by relevant authorities to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
