COVID-19 cases are still very much on the increase -Minister
The Federal Ministry of Health has warned the country against the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said this at the presidential task force briefing held at Abuja on Thursday, 18th of June, 2020.
The minister said that the increasing number of cases is sign that the risk of COVID-19 staying for much longer and wrecking more havoc is high.
He reminds the country of the present statistics of the virus in the country. The number of deaths that have been recorded is now 469, the number of confirmed cases is 17,735 and the number of discharged persons is now 5,967.

The minister however said that there are preventive measures which can help reduce the risk of this deadly virus.
He says the group of people who seem to be most affected by the virus should be protected. These people include generally, adults above 50 years with existent ailments like diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, cancer, etc.
He urges these people to keep strictly to the lockdown orders by staying at home, wearing face masks, avoiding public places and the likes.
He mentions that citizens should be wary of unauthentic pharmaceutical stores as he also warns citizens of increased exposure to COVID-19 while in public places.
He urges citizens who might test positive of the coronavirus to visit the health centre immediately.
