Atiku’s claims about the country’s debt are not true -Lai Mohammed
Nigeria is in a serious financial crisis due to rising debt, the former Vice President and former Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Abubakar Atiku has told the Federal Government.
But Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed would not have such comment, as he was quick to tell the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 elections not to spread unauthentic information about the financial state of the country.
The former Prsidential aspirant had demanded that the FG should stop the unnecessary borrowings from other nations.
But Lai Mohammed went on to say that the figures that the former Vice President presented were false and that the country’s debt to revenue ratio of 99% in the early part of 2020 as quoted by Atiku was not in the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper where Atiku allegedly got it from.
Mohammed insisted that the debts have not escalated out of control as Abubakar makes it seem like.
