…President Buhari felicitates with Nigerians on Democracy Day

On the 12th of June, 2020 which happens to be Democracy day, the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians at exactly 6o’clock in the morning. Here, we have gathered some of the most important things that the president said here. Read below

President Muhammadu Buhari began his speech by congratulating Nigerians on the Democracy Day celebration. He says that it is a day that brings honour to the founding fathers of Nigerians who have worked relentlessly to make Nigeria a better place.

He mentions the COVID-19 and the pain and sorrow into which it has thrown the nation. He commiserates with those who have lost loved ones to the virus and those who have lost their means of livelihood due to the lockdown.

He also reminds Nigerians of his promise to in 2019 to address issues which the country might be facing. He says that he is carrying out the promise as he is here today to address those issues to the hearing of all and sundry.

The president says that they have recorded notable achievements while discharging their duties .

Economic-wise, he says that they have tried to ensure agriculture and food security, energy sufffiency in power, good infrastructure, and fight against corruption. He also says that they have tried to stabilise macro economy.

In order to build the economy of the country, the president went on to say that the Monetary Authority took steps to build the external reserves which improve liquidity in the foreign exchange market.

The president also said that they are promoting “Grow What We Eat” and “Eat What We Grow.” He assures Nigerians that they will continue to support the country’s Agriculture sector through various schemes.

Similary, the president makes mention of various projects which they have embarked upon such as the 4th Minland bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan Rail Line and many others.

He also vows to ensure the ending of the various forms of crimes committed across the nations as personnels have been put in place to bring this to live.

He goes on to mention the threat which COVID-19 has posed to the nation and how it has affected the socio-economic systems. He mentioned the COVID-19 PTF which was created to help privide guidance and leadership in fighting the spread of the virus in the country.

The president concluded his speech by celebrating with Nigerians once again on Democracy. He reminds us that the nation and even the world at large is under the threat if COVID-19. He assures us that our confidence and consistency will pay off at the end.
