The number of infected health workers has now increased to 812
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen to the death of over 371,000 persons in various countries around the world.
Nigeria is not left out of this pandemic as the death rate in the country has risen to about 299 while confirmed cases is over 10,000. This includes health workers who risk their lives for the treatment of the infected people.
In the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing held with the president at Abuja on Tuesday 2nd of May, 2020, the Director-General of the Nigeria Cenre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu made it known that the number of infected health workers keep increasing and is currently 812. He also mentioned that 29 of these health workers are members of the NCDC.
The Director-General also mentioned that the country is doing well in managing the virus and the authorities put in charge are discharging their duties well.
He also encourages Nigerians to be wary of their activities, keep to the guidelines and observe the preventive measures that have been put in place.
